Some people fail to understand the parallels of life and fly fishing. Garey Avis is not one of those people. Garey’s grandparents ranched on the lower Beaverhead River back when you rolled your own and the only chaw you could buy was Mail Pouch Tobacco. He cut his teeth guiding on the waters of Southwest Montana competing with the likes of Tim Moslof and Tim Tollett for the best tippers. These days, he guides exclusively for The Stonefly and rebuilds old Fords when he is not tying flies for you to cast into the trees.
Garey “remembers when” and when the going gets tough, I’m thankful Garey Avis is on my team.
